Colin Willliams, chairman
Colin Williams has a long and honourable history of helping others. From a modest start in life in the South Wales coal mining industry, he graduated from the London School of Economics and then achieved a Masters degree at Bryn Mawr in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Colin has had a long and successful career in the community organisation field and charitable organisations, and has been awarded several international and UK awards for public service. He has worked with many charities, including the Princess Royal Trust for Carers. Four years ago he lost his wife Maggie, having been her carer throughout a long and difficult struggle with cancer. At 75, Colin was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Colin is a family man who rejoices in close involvement with his three grandchildren – 5, 4 and 2 years old. Life is never dull, and his allotment is a special place, full of happy memories of time with his beloved Maggie. Colin enjoys sport and rugby in particular, coming from the Welsh Valleys.
